For past three years, People of Urelu celebrates their summer annual sports meet event in Canada. All the Urelu people from Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto gather in Scarborough.

It was a day full of fun, relaxation and enjoyment for people of all ages. The celebrations were held in the morning side Park, in Scarborough, one of the densely populated Tamils areas in Canada.

The day's events began with everyone who was assembled in the venue observing 2 minutes silence as a mark for all the people who sacrificed their life during the armed struggle for the freedom of the Tamil people. The Canadian flag and Tamil Eelam flag were hoisted.

Children from age 5-14 competed in various track and field events as well as fun games. Both girls and boys, very keenly contested in the fancy dress competition for the children, spectators enjoyed very much watching this event.

The special guests and the old people from Urelu community awarded trophies for the winners in various events. Everyone enjoyed the food ordered from leading restaurent.

Overall, it was a day of fun for people and a grate opportunity for the people to meet old friends and share information about relatives and friends. More than one hundred people have attended the day's activity. The Day's events were brought to a successful completion by lowering the flags around 7 PM. The success of this event will be an encouragement for the organizers to hold these celebrations again at the same venue next year with more vigour.
